The handpan is a unique, convex steel percussion instrument that is played with the hands and fingers, producing a resonant, ethereal sound. It is highly regarded for its ability to create mystical, dreamy, and meditative soundscapes.

Structure: It consists of two circular metal shells, typically nitrided or stainless steel, glued together at the rim. The top shell (called the "ding" side) has a central hammered dimple that produces a low bass note, surrounded by a circle of several tuned tone fields, usually 8 or 9 in total. The bottom shell typically has a tone hole (called the "gu") that allows the internal air pressure to be adjusted to create a Helmholtz resonance, similar to a traditional steelpan drum.
Sound Production: The sound is produced by striking the tuned tone fields or the central ding with the fingertips. The resulting sound is a complex harmonic blend that is often described as warm, soft, and bell-like.
Tuning and Scales: Handpans are available in a variety of musical scales, such as D minor (the most common), Celtic Minor, or Amara, which dictate the emotional quality or "mood" of the music played on it (e.g., sad, hopeful, or uplifting).
Usage: They are 100% handmade and used in a variety of settings including musical performances, sound therapy, meditation, and street performances.
