Job Details
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Site Engineer to join our signage production team. In this role, you will oversee on-site execution of signage projects, from site surveys and preparation through to final installation, commissioning, and handover. We are a leading signage production company specializing in custom architectural, illuminated, and large-format signage solutions, undertaking turnkey project signage. Join our team and help bring brands to life through precision engineering and flawless site execution.
You will serve as the key technical authority on client sites, ensuring that fabricated signs (interior/exterior, illuminated, structural, large-format, etc.) are installed accurately, safely, in compliance with local codes/permits, and to the highest quality standards. This position bridges our in-house production/design teams with field execution and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct detailed site surveys and assessments prior to installation (measuring, photographing, checking structural conditions, power availability, access constraints, zoning/permitting requirements)
• Prepare and review site-specific installation plans, method statements, risk assessments, and lift plans (especially for large-format, rooftop, or high-level signage)
• Coordinate site preparation activities: surface preparation, bracket/structural support installation, electrical rough-in (in coordination with licensed electricians when required)
• Supervise and provide technical direction to installation crews, subcontractors, riggers, and electricians during sign assembly, mounting, alignment, and connection
• Ensure all installations comply with:
• International Building Code (IBC) / local structural & wind-load requirements
• Electrical codes (NEC or equivalent) for illuminated signs
• Safety standards (OSHA, working-at-heights protocols, crane/lifting regulations)
• Client specifications and approved shop drawings
• Perform structural checks and verifications for sign mounting systems (especially freestanding pylons, pole signs, facade-mounted, or rooftop signs).
• Troubleshoot technical issues on-site (alignment, fitment, electrical, structural, weatherproofing) and propose practical solutions in real time
• Conduct quality inspections during and after installation; perform final commissioning, testing (LED illumination, dimming, timers, sensors), and client walkthrough/handover
• Maintain detailed site records: daily reports, progress photos, material/equipment logs, punch lists, as-built documentation
• Liaise with clients, property managers, general contractors, permitting authorities, and internal teams (production, design, project management)
• Assist in the pre-production phase when needed (reviewing constructability/installability of complex designs)
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on every site
Requirements & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience:
• 2 to 3+ years in a site/technical engineering role
• Strong preference for previous experience in signage, outdoor advertising, architectural metalwork, facade installation, or related custom fabrication/installation industries
• Experience with large-format/illuminated signage installation is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
• Proficient in reading and interpreting shop drawings, structural calculations, electrical schematics
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or similar (for mark-ups and as-builts)
• Understanding of wind-load calculations, anchoring systems, and aluminum/steel fabrication principles
• Familiarity with LED lighting systems, transformers, power supplies, and basic electrical troubleshooting
Preferred Attributes/Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel (daily / multi-day trips)
• Physically fit—able to work at heights, lift moderate loads, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to make quick, sound decisions on-site
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Experience coordinating crane/MEWP/scaffolding operations
• Knowledge of signage-specific materials (ACM, aluminium composite, aluminium, stainless steel, polycarbonate, vinyl, etc.)
• Familiarity with permitting processes for signage in commercial/retail environments
• Previous experience using project management tools (Procore, Fieldwire, or similar)
